About this property
Gara Rock is a clifftop hotel above the coast path, its terraces and outdoor bar looking straight out to sea across green coastal fields and a dramatic headland.
A restaurant with sea views and a private cinema
The restaurant sits behind floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the coast, tables set beneath pendant lights, with a separate leather booth and checkerboard-floored bar area. A private cinema room adds green velvet reclining seats in front of a large screen, and a lounge nearby pairs armchairs and ottomans beneath framed fish artwork. The kitchen sends out fish and chips, wood-fired pizza, burgers and more elegant plates such as scallops and other seafood.
Rooms and suites with sea-facing lounges
Rooms are finished with wood-panelled headboard walls and striped pillows, and the suites go further, each with its own lounge: armchairs and plants behind floor-to-ceiling windows, or a blue sofa beside a wood coffee table, all facing the sea. French doors in one room open straight onto a balcony terrace with a breakfast table and sea views.
A rooftop pool, an indoor pool and a hot tub
The hotel has both a rooftop pool with sun loungers and an indoor pool with a wood-panelled spa lounger, plus a hot tub, sauna and steam room among its wellness facilities, alongside massage, facials and other spa treatments.
Coastal cliffs and wildflower footpaths
The coastline changes in every light: a turquoise cove beneath green cliffs, a wildflower-lined footpath along the headland, and the hotel itself standing above the coast path at dusk.
A clifftop retreat above Gara Rock Beach
With a spa, restaurant and direct access to the coast path, Gara Rock suits a couple or family wanting a full-service hotel stay near Salcombe rather than a self-catering base, close to Gara Rock Beach itself.

Guests consistently mention
Service is the dominant theme here, raised more than twice as often as is typical here, and opinion runs clearly favourable.
Raised in 14 of 20 written reviews. Tone: Mostly positive
Worth knowing before you book
Nothing recurring came up as a drawback in this sample.
Themes are counted mechanically from the written reviews in our sample, then described in our own words. A theme missing from either column simply did not recur often enough to report — it is not a verdict either way.
