About this property
Harbour Beach Club sits right on South Sands beach, a modern four-star hotel built low against the sand with its own spa, restaurant and rooftop terrace above the water.
The building steps down toward the beach in tiers, glass-fronted and timber-clad, with a lily pond and loungers set out along the terrace at its foot.
Rooms looking out to the estuary
Bedrooms are finished in warm terracotta tones with patterned headboards and a small seating chair by the window, most with a balcony door onto the water, one room with sliding glass straight onto its own balcony.
The spa and the rooftop
Downstairs, the spa runs to a hydrotherapy pool with loungers and a separate indoor swimming pool beneath a skylight, plus a gym fitted with free weights and resistance machines. Up top, a rooftop terrace bar looks over the estuary, with lounge seating lit for the evening and a second terrace laid with dining tables at dusk.
Dinner with a water view
The restaurant sits under rattan lanterns behind full-height glass, plating local seafood, a whole lobster served alongside a steak, with a breakfast buffet of granola, fruit and pastries laid out each morning.
Beside South Sands
The hotel stands directly on South Sands, one of the beaches that draws people to Salcombe in the first place, with the town itself close by.
A hotel stay, not a self-catering one
Harbour Beach Club works for a couple or a small group after a proper hotel stay, restaurant, spa and pool included, rather than cooking for themselves, with the beach and the rooftop bar covering both a lazy day and a smarter evening out, right on the sand in Salcombe.

Worth knowing before you book
Housekeeping draws heavy criticism relative to the local norm, and that sits oddly beside Booking’s own cleanliness score, which covers every review it holds where our reading covers a recent slice.
Raised in 6 of 20 written reviews. Tone: Mostly critical
Eating on site divides opinion more sharply than at most places nearby, with criticism outweighing praise in our sample.
Raised in 9 of 20 written reviews. Tone: Mostly critical
Breakfast attracts more criticism than praise here, which reverses the usual local pattern.
Raised in 7 of 20 written reviews. Tone: Mostly critical
Themes are counted mechanically from the written reviews in our sample, then described in our own words. A theme missing from either column simply did not recur often enough to report — it is not a verdict either way.
